designing with First Nations business: Uncle Charlie’s Tastes of Country
I have proposed a luxury product and retail collaboration with Uncle Charlie’s Tastes of Country, Birrarangga Film Festival and ACMI.
The collaborative line works to showcase the joy and fun of Uncle Charlie’s as a 100% Aboriginal owned gourmet snack food brand, whilst also continuing their story and creating outreach to a wider range of consumers.

As a non-Indigenous designer, designing with a First Nations business, it was my job to find a way to use my own systems of knowledge to build on this sovereign relationship in a way that is exciting and easily accessible to a large range of people.
The product line contains a selection of limited edition art prints and clothing merchandise that will be launched at the biannual Birrarangga Film Festival, and sold in the ACMI store.

The product line works to excite and engage customers in the story and ethos of Uncle Charlie’s, with a key point of the ability for
non-Indigenous people to be able to see themselves in the work, creating an avenue for them to find out more about the brand and start to engage in their own sovereign relationship.
