the paddler’s call
24-page Risograph comic
The Paddler’s Call is a 24 page Risograph printed comic that was originally written as a poem by my dad, Gerard, dedicated to the group of friends that he goes paddling with.
It’s about having the strength to overcome the obstacles that life throws your way, by having your friends by your side.

I have taken his poem, and turned it into a freeform comic with light, textural linework, printed in single-colour Risograph green.
I’ve chosen to make this comic without any outlined panels, so that the characters can float across the page like they do in the river.
This comic is dedicated to my dad Gerard, all friends we have lost and those that are still with us.
